homemade coffee scrub

Today I have something that is an absolute stroke of genuine genius. A new way to enjoy your coffee, the perfect way to recycle your spent coffee, and more importantly the best way to treat your skin to a clean shiny look for absolutely free.

The coffee scrub is a growing global trend, and I’ll show you exactly how to recycle your used coffee pods and forget about expensive skin creams for good. It has changed my life, and it turned me into much more of an environmentally aware consumer.

Warning – prepare to be amazed!

All of That In a Cup of Coffee?

It seems every few days a new research comes out praising the health benefits of coffee, how it fights depression, enhances brain activity and helps your body stay fit and healthy.

Cosmetic and health companies are now discovering the fantastic benefits of coffee to the skin – adding caffeine to expensive creams and lotions (find out more here).

What if you could harness the healthy benefits of coffee for free at home with a quick and simple process? For those of us who love a higher quality coffee in easy-to-use capsules, it couldn’t be easier to recycle all that used ground coffee in the pods and create our very own DIY coffee scrub.

This is one of those “Why didn’t I think of this before?” moments. With this coffee scrub you literally turn waste into gold, so you can keep enjoying high quality Rosso Caffe coffee care-free in the knowledge it will later become your skin’s best friend.

Is the Coffee Scrub Really That Simple to Make?

There are a variety of ways to make the coffee scrub, and a fair share of scrub recipes out there. But I did all the hard work and experimented with our spent coffee capsules so I can just make it simply and enjoy the benefits. Don’t worry I had a great time trying out the different methods – with many cups of excellent coffee in the process.

Here’s what you’ll need

  • 1 cup of spent ground coffee (from the pods)
  • 2 tbsp. melted coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp. sea salt (or sugar if you prefer)
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • A container (for the finished product)

Once you’ve gone through about 30 capsules, empty them all into a small mixing bowl.

The ingredients – spent coffee, salt, coconut oil & cinnamon.

Add the coconut oil to the mixture with one table spoon of sea salt, and mix very well for a minute or two. I like to add a tea spoon of cinnamon for its soothing scent, but that is entirely optional.

7 Clear Benefits of the Coffee Scrub

What’s so special about the coffee scrub and why waste 10 minutes of your life making it? Or in other words, besides recycling used coffee, what can the coffee scrub do for you?

  • Rich in anti-oxidants protecting against free radicals
  • Reverses the effects of aging skin
  • Clears stretch marks, cellulite and skin lines
  • Increases production of Elastin and Collagen
  • Heals UV ray damage reversing the effects of prolonged sun-tanning
  • Battles acne and skin infections
  • Protects against loss of moisture

To get the best out of your homemade coffee scrub, massage it into your skin with your hands or using a dry bath brush, let it do its magic for a few minutes and then simply wash off.

One last tip for avid coffee lovers like me with plenty of “used” coffee leftover throughout the day, I just get some decorative cool glass jars, fill them with my homemade scrub, and give them out as a great gift to family and friends.
